LEADERSHIP

RREA exists to enhance the Rotman real estate experience for students through education, application, and exposure, and with our strong leadership focused on these objectives, we continue to thrive.

 

Prior to Rotman, Andrew worked for Starlight Investments, a Toronto-based real estate investment manager with $20 billion of assets under management. At Starlight, Andrew was focused on the acquisition and management of real estate investments throughout the United States. Andrew’s previous experience includes corporate finance and investment roles with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts at their global headquarters in Toronto. At Four Seasons, Andrew gained exposure to the international luxury hotel, resort and mixed-use residential real estate industry.  Andrew holds a Bachelor of Management from Western University in London, Ontario. 

 

During his first year at Rotman Andrew was active in the RREA, and helped his team capture first place at the RREA/SmartCentres Real Estate Development case competition. Andrew was also involved in extracurriculars with the Rotman Finance Association, capturing first place in the TD M&A case competition and the RBC Investment Banking deal study case competition. 

 

This summer, Andrew worked as an Investments Intern with Graywood, a Toronto-based real estate investment management and development firm.

Andrew Honsberger

President

Before joining Rotman, Alexis worked as a Real Estate Development Manager for 7 years, and lived in Mexico City and Barcelona for more than 10 years. He managed several multi-million Real Estate development project across Mexico and Europe, developing strong industry knowledge and managerial skills. Alexis holds a Bachelor´s Degree in Architecture with a specialization in Real Estate Development from the National University of Mexico and a Master´s Degree in Urban Planning and Sustainability from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in Barcelona. 

  

During his first year at Rotman, Alexis was an active member of the RREA and had the opportunity to participate in the SmartCentres Real Estate Development Case Competition, where his team and he won Second Place. He is currently completing his summer internship at SE Future, where he is working as an Affordable Housing Real Estate Finance and Development Intern, and he hopes to further contribute to the sustainable development of the Real Estate Industry in Canada as his career progresses. 

Alexis Zecua

Vice President, Finance

Mallika holds 8 years of experience in real estate development management, Urban and Infrastructure Planning and Project Management. She worked on projects located in more than 9 countries, ranging from Mass Transit Multimodal Corridor to Mixed-use development. She has experience working with a wide variety of stakeholders, including government entities, and leading project teams for project approvals, research and special projects. In addition, she started her own real estate advisory company to provide bespoke real estate research support to SME firms and end-users.

 

Mallika holds Bachelor in Architecture, Jai Narain Vyas University, India and a Master of Planning from CEPT University, India. Her passion for development reflects in her achievements in her first year of MBA. Being an active member of RREA, Mallika won "Honorable Mention" for ULI Hines Design Case Competition, 2021 where the team was placed 7 out of 105 Teams. She also applied her background experience to help her team secure third place at the RREA/SmartCentres REIT Real Estate Development Case Competition in January 2021.

Mallika Jain

Vice President, Strategic Initiatives

Sahand is a UofT Civil Engineering graduate with experience in construction management and residential real estate investments. As a recipient of the University of Toronto’s Skoll Scholarship, he is currently enrolled as a full-time MBA student at the Rotman School of Management. Sahand also has been serving as an Investment and Development Analyst at Freed Developments, as well as VP, Industry Relations, at the Rotman Engineering Club (BASc/MBA).

 

On the side, Sahand continues to pursue his extra-curricular passions, most notably piano, for which he holds an ARCT professional designation from the Royal Conservatory of Music.

Sahand Chegini

Vice President, External

Prior to Rotman, Bassel spent 7 years working in real estate private equity investment. He worked on the acquisition of $650M income-producing real estate, developments, and value-add investments in a variety of sectors including multifamily, industrial, and office in the U.S. and Europe. His experience includes conducting real estate due diligence, financial modeling, investment management, and business development. Bassel holds a B.S. in Business from the Lebanese American University and is a CFA Charterholder.

 

During his first year at Rotman, Bassel was actively involved with the RREA events and helped his team win first place in the RREA/SmartCentres REIT Real Estate Development Case Competition.

Bassel Hammad

Vice President, Internal

Tommy Surya

Vice President, Communications

Tommy spent 3 years working at WZMH Architects providing architectural design and project management consulting services to real estate developer clients before joining Rotman. He has worked on a variety of projects including residential, commercial and mixed-use projects, and was heavily involved in the upcoming Google’s Toronto Headquarter, acting as a client representative and working with a multi-discplinary team of engineers and builders. His experience has allowed him to gain a strong understanding of the real estate industry. 

During the first year of his MBA, Tommy helped his team win first place in the RREA SmartCentres Development competition. This summer, he worked as an Acquisition and Development Intern at Mattamy Homes.
